At Beyond Borders Youth Network, we believe that being part of a community means showing up and giving back. Yesterday, our team took this belief to heart during a city cleanup in Whitehorse. Armed with orange vests and plenty of energy, we spent the day picking up litter, connecting with each other, and contributing to the cleanliness and care of the land we now call home.
What made the day truly special wasn’t just the work we did, but the connections we built. Members shared stories, laughed together, and strengthened the sense of belonging that is at the heart of BBYN. As newcomers, we recognize the importance of supporting the communities that welcome us, and activities like this are a tangible way to do that.
At BBYN, our mandate is to create opportunities for youth newcomers to build skills, engage in meaningful community service, and develop supportive networks. This cleanup is just one example of how we put that mission into action. Beyond the immediate impact of a cleaner city, these initiatives foster teamwork, leadership, and a stronger sense of community among participants.
We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our network, whether as members or board members. If you’re interested in volunteering, skill-building, or supporting youth initiatives in Yukon, BBYN offers a space to make a real difference while connecting with like-minded peers.
